Hoole Primary School

Solar Power for Education

Last week we were close to home in the city of Chester installing 92.12 kWp solar PV system for Hoole Church of England Primary School which was split on to two different roofs. The smaller roof consists of 36 x Longi Solar, LR4-72HPH-445M solar panels and the other 171 were installed on larger building, bringing the total solar panels to 207. We installed 104 x P950 optimizers which was used to connect to two solar panels each. Inside the building of the school, we installed 2 x SolarEdge 30K inverters in a small room which is off limits to pupils of the school. The inverters are then wired up through the roof and connected to the PV system.

Why Should Other Schools Go Solar?

Save money on electricity bills – Schools can make huge savings on their electricity bills, allowing them to spend money on educational and recreational programmes.

Helps the environment – Solar PV system helps the environment by reducing the school’s Co2 emissions. Hoole primary school saves 16.98 tonnes every calendar year. Do you want to help with climate change?

Education to students – Being able to communicate to the pupils the benefits of sustainability through a working example of renewable technology in their own school will provide more direct engagement, particularly in the subjects of geography, science, design and technology and IT. This can also help to inspire the wider community to take action to address climate change.

Residential Install in Ellesmere Port

Residential Install in Ellesmere Port

Powering a Home in Ellesmere Port with Solar PV

This week’s case study is based on the recent residential solar PV job we completed in Ellesmere port a few weeks back. The installed DC power of the system is 4.38 kWp and it is estimated to produce 3.58 MWh of energy and save around 834.4 kg of carbon emissions every year. The system consists of 12 x Longi Solar, LR4-60HBD-365M solar panels aswell as the same amount of S440 optimizers to connect to one solar panel each. The SolarEdge 3680H inverter for the system was installed inside a cupboard in the house and wired up to the arrays on the roof. The customer is also looking to install LG Chem RESU10H battery soon to store the energy being produced by the PV system.

Quote From The Customer

“We chose Genfit because we wanted a local company to do the work. The people at Genfit gave us confidence in the product on offer (plus we later found that our son-in-law who is a plumber/ heating engineer is a friend of Dave Houston – it helps to get a connection and a recommendation). We were aided through the ‘discovery’ phase of the project by email discussions with sales staff to arrive at our final configuration. Initial installation of the PV solar system was set up rapidly and went according to plan.”

“We use the system essentially to reduce our usage of electricity from the grid. We are pleased that we are generating more power than we expected and longer term we hope to be able to use the system to power an electric vehicle.”

Northgate Arena

Northgate Arena

Powering Northgate Arena

Towards the end of last year, we made our second visit to Northgate Arena to complete the 153 kWp solar PV system. The system took around a week to install as it consisted of 340 x Longi Solar, LR4-72HPH-450M solar panels connected to half the amount of optimizers as they connect to two solar panels each. The strings were then connected to the 2 x Solar Edge 50K Manager inverters which were installed undercover inside the building.

The 153 kWp solar PV system is estimated to produce around 124.61 MWh of energy and save 29 tonnes of carbon emissions every year which is the equivalent of over 1,300 trees being planted. Brio Leisure is helping the environment massively by going solar at most of their leisure centre’s in Cheshire.

We owe a massive thanks to Qwest Services for making this project happen. Qwest services manage the Council’s Capital Works repair and maintenance schedules. Northgate Arena is now part of the schedule.  Northgate Arena and all the other buildings involved are identified as being the most appropriate for the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps, Hybrid Heating Systems, Solar PV (Photovoltaic), also known as a solar electric system, and/or light-emitting diode (LED) lighting. Cheshire West & Chester Council’s main goal is to become carbon neutral by the year 2045 and we want to be a part of helping them in doing this.

Northgate Arena

Northgate Arena is home to two swimming pools – a training pool that’s perfect for your little ones swimming lessons, and a leisure pool with a water slide that’s great for a splash around! The spacious gym has some of the latest equipment in it, including the Synrgy 360XL functional frame that lets you work your whole body. The centre also has a large fitness class timetable full of variety, so there are lots of different ways to get active at Northgate Arena!

Residential Project – Birkenhead

Residential Project – Birkenhead

Efficient Home Solar

This 4.50 kWp System in Birkenhead was completed last month consisting of twelve Eurener, MEPV 375-HC Black solar panels connected to the same amount of S440 optimizers. To complete the system we installed the SolarEdge3680H inside the house.

The system is estimated to have an annual energy production of 4.03 MWh and also lower the carbon emissions by almost a tonne every year which will help the environment. The pie chart below shows the amount of production from the system and how much is being exported back to the grid.

New Build, New Energy

This 4.88 kWp Solar PV installation took place in the Birkenhead area on a newly built home. They decided to go solar to save money on their electricity bills and help the environment by reducing the amount of C02 being produced. The system consisted of thirteen Eurener, MEPV 375-HC Black (120 HALF-CUT) solar panels as well as the same amount of S440 optimizers and one SolarEdge 3680H inverter to complete the system.

The system is expected to produce 3.98 MWh of energy every year to power the home and save 926.86 kg of carbon emissions which is equivalent to 43 trees being planted.
