Doubling Down on Solar

In November last year, we returned to Christleton Sports Centre to install a second Solar PV System for their sports centre due to them being impressed with the work of our first solar PV installation. The new system was built on the roof of the swimming pool which is one of the most used facilities at the sports centre. The PV system consisted of a huge 160 x Longi Solar, LR4-60HPH-370M solar panels with half the amount of P801 optimizers so they could connect to two solar panels each. We also installed a 3-phase SolarEdge 50K Manager inverter inside the building wired up to the system on the roof to complete the system.

All together the installed DC power of this system is 59.20 kWp which if you combine the power with the original system installed it is nearly reaching 160kWp. The system is estimated to produce 45.54 MWh of energy every year which will mainly be used to power to the swimming pool facilities such as the pool itself, lights, showers, etc. The system will save around 10.61 tonnes of Co2 emissions every calendar year, which is equivalent to 487 trees being planted.

Christleton Sports Centre

Christleton Sports Centre is the perfect place in the community to get active. The gym and fitness class timetable offer plenty of variety, and the pool provides a range of swimming sessions as well as lessons for all ages. The sports hall and 3G pitch are also available for bookings, making it a versatile hub for both individuals and local groups.

Beyond its facilities, the centre plays an important role in supporting health, wellbeing, and community engagement across the area. From school activities and club training to casual fitness and family swimming, it caters to a wide range of users throughout the week.

As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact, Christleton Sports Centre has also invested in renewable energy. The addition of solar PV systems helps generate clean electricity on-site, supporting the day-to-day running of energy-intensive facilities such as the swimming pool, while reducing both carbon emissions and long-term energy costs.
