Octopus Tariffs

Octopus Go For EVs

  • For customers who own or long-term lease a battery EV or a plug-in hybrid vehicle.
  • Offers five hours of cheap energy each night and reduces costs to around 2.6p per mile. 8.5p/kWh off-peak.
  • Super cheap electricity between 12.30am – 5.30am every night.

Octopus Fixed For Homes With Solar Panels

  • This export tariff pays 15p/kWh for every unit exported to the grid, providing peace of mind and predictability.
  • Available for homes with solar on its own, or with any combo of battery storage, EV or heat pump.
  • For homes without a battery, home demand will be prioritised and any extra will go to the grid.

Cosy Octopus For Heat Pumps

  • Keeps homes warm for less with super cheap rates, 3x a day – eight hours total.
  • Three cosy periods of super cheap rates between 4am – 7am, 1pm – 4pm and 10pm – 12am everyday, 51% cheaper than the day rate.
  • A peak rate between 4pm – 7pm, 45% more expensive than the day rate, meaning the more electricity shifted out of peak times, the greater the savings.

Agile Octopus For Flexible Energy Use

  • For homes that can use more of their electricity when it’s cheaper and greener, outside of peak times of 4pm-7pm, often using smart home tech like solar or batteries.
  • Customers get access to half-hourly energy prices, tied to wholesale prices and updated daily. So when wholesale electricity prices drop, so do their bills.
  • Agile prices flex but are capped at £1/kWh, although a typical household in Winter 2022-23 paid around 35p/kWh average.

Octopus Flux For Solar and Battery

  • Our import and export tariff which gives the best rates for consuming and selling energy to support the grid when it needs it most.
  • Super cheap rates between 2am – 5am every day, when the battery can be topped up with extra energy that may be needed.
  • A peak rate between 4pm – 7pm, the optimum time to discharge the battery and export surplus energy back to the grid.
