Powering Theatr Clwyd with Renewable Energy
Genfit has delivered a 245.18 kWp rooftop solar PV system at Theatr Clwyd, designed to generate significant renewable energy for the site while supporting long-term carbon reduction goals. The system has an installed DC capacity of 245.18 kWp and delivers up to 180 kW of AC power, helping meet the building’s daytime electricity demand with clean, on-site energy. Based on detailed performance modelling, the system is expected to produce approximately 186.69 MWh of usable solar electricity every year, reducing reliance on grid power and lowering operational energy costs. This renewable generation will offset around 36.1 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, which is equivalent to planting 1,658 trees each year. The system has been optimised with a 121% DC/AC oversizing ratio to maximise generation across varying sunlight conditions, achieving a projected performance ratio of 83% and an annual specific production of 761 kWh per kWp installed. By turning unused roof space into a clean energy asset, the installation supports Theatr Clwyd’s sustainability ambitions while demonstrating how cultural venues can play a key role in the transition to renewable energy.
