Project Overview
Genfit completed the installation of two solar PV systems at Jordangate and Grosvenor Multi-Storey Car Parks in Macclesfield, transforming the upper parking levels into renewable energy generation assets.
The project involved the installation of ground-mounted solar PV systems across the top levels of both multi-storey car parks, designed to make effective use of available space while supporting the generation of clean, renewable electricity.
With a combined 986 solar panels and a total installed capacity of 400 kWp, the two systems are designed to generate approximately 330 MWh of renewable electricity annually, helping to reduce reliance on grid electricity and support long-term sustainability objectives.
Together, the installations are estimated to save approximately 64 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, equivalent to planting 2,912 trees, demonstrating how existing urban infrastructure can be used to generate renewable energy and reduce environmental impact.
Project Details
System Design & Technology
The installations utilise SolarEdge commercial PV technology, combined with specially designed ground-mounted systems positioned on the upper levels of Jordangate and Grosvenor Multi-Storey Car Parks. The systems were designed to maximise renewable energy generation while making effective use of existing urban infrastructure.
4 SolarEdge inverters and 494 power optimisers help maximise energy generation and ensure efficient performance across both installations.
Combined installed capacity of 399.34 kWp, with a maximum achieved AC power of 306.5 kW, converting solar energy into usable electricity.
Advanced SolarEdge monitoring technology provides detailed system performance data, allowing energy generation and individual panel performance to be monitored.
Enhanced safety features, including module-level monitoring and SolarEdge SafeDC™ technology, help reduce DC voltage to safer levels when the systems are shut down.
