Powering Sustainability at Arkell Scouting and Community Centre with 13.65 kWp Solar PV

Genfit recently completed the installation of a high-performance solar PV system at Arkell Scout & Community Centre, designed to cut grid dependency, reduce running costs, and support the centre’s long-term sustainability goals.

The bespoke setup combines advanced SolarEdge technology with high-efficiency Hengdian Group DMEGC Magnetic Co. Ltd. DM455M10RT-B54HBB solar panels, each paired with a SolarEdge S440 Power Optimiser for maximum energy yield. The system is powered by a SolarEdge SE8000H Home Wave single-phase inverter and supported by two SolarEdge Home Batteries (9.7 kWh each), providing stored energy for evening use and backup during outages.

With a total installed DC capacity of 13.65 kWp and a maximum achieved AC output of 8 kW, the system is expected to produce 9,430 kWh of usable solar energy annually — meeting around 79% of the centre’s annual electricity needs. This will help save an estimated 1.82 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year, equivalent to planting 84 trees annually.

Battery storage plays a key role, with 1,874 kWh of solar energy stored and used entirely on-site. This not only maximises solar self-consumption but also reduces reliance on the grid during peak times, helping to keep energy bills low and predictable.

Designed for long-term performance, the installation supports the centre’s environmental commitments, provides significant operational savings, and offers a visible example of renewable energy in action for the local community.
