Solar Panels can be fitted to the vast majority of roof spaces and land. The mounting systems are the physical connection between the solar panels and the roof system. Flexibility in design means that any roof is suitable for PV.

The solar array of a PV system can be mounted on rooftops, generally with a few inches gap and parallel to the surface of the roof. If the rooftop is horizontal, the array is mounted with each panel aligned at an angle. If the panels are to be mounted before the construction of the roof, the roof can be designed accordingly by installing support brackets. If the roof is already constructed, it is relatively easy to retrofit panels directly on top of existing roofing structures. For a small minority of roofs (often not built to code) that are designed to only bear the weight of the roof itself, installing solar panels demands that the roof structure be strengthened beforehand.

In all cases of retrofits, particular consideration of weather sealing is necessary. There are many low-weight designs for PV systems that can be used on either sloped or flat roofs. Most, however, rely on a type of extruded aluminum rail. Recently, tension-based PV racking solutions have been tested successfully that reduces weight and cost. The general practice for installation of roof-mounted solar panels includes having a support bracket per hundred watts of panels.

Integrated Roof Mounting Kit

Integrated roof mounting kit allows the in roof installation of standard solar panels on new buildings or buildings being renovated. The system has the advantage that it fits 95% of solar PV panels available on the market. It can be designed to cover the whole roof surface if necessary, subject to panel size.

Panels can be installed in portrait format or in landscape format. The system can be installed on wood or metal structures and mounted on battens or lathing. It can also be mounted directly on common rafters and can be installed on slopes between 12° and 50°.

What’s Included in the Mounting Kit

Roof Hooks

The roof hooks combine the maximum load capacity with low dead weight and are highly adjustable and easy to install

Mounting Rails

Are used to attach the end and centre of the system

Connectors

Are used to ensure structurally identical properties in the area of the rails and the connectors

End and Mid Clamps

Module clamps have an extremely wide clamping area and are therefore suitable for all standard modules and frame heights of 30-50mm

Screws

Are also included to drill in the mounting rails

On Roof Mounting Kit

An on roof mounting kit is usually put together with two horizontal mounting rails that carry one row of PV modules mounted vertically. These rails are fastened to the roof structure using roof hooks or other fasteners. The modules are fastened to the rails using the middle and end clamps.
